Creating Your Own Case Law Library with Google Desktop

The Veterans Court requires that you support your position with citation to case law. So how does a non-attorney go about gathering these supporting citations?

One way to create your own small case law library on your own computer is to download Veteran Court's decision and then use Google Desktop to search through them and give you the results, similar to using Google Search.

So go to Veterans Court Archived Cases and download all the available cases and place them into a folder on your computer and then download Google Desktop.

Now you can search through all these cases as easily as you search the web. Just remember that case law is dynamic, it changes and just because you found a good case law from 1992 that does not mean that it is still good case law in 2010.
