The Veterans Affairs hospital in Albuquerque says it has launched a “comprehensive review” of cases handled by Dr. Christian R. Schlicht, who once worked at the VA from 1997 to 2006, is a defendant in 47 personal injury lawsuits filed by former patients at an Alamogordo hospital, which is now seeking bankruptcy protection because of the legal claims.

“Should any veteran treated by Dr. Schlicht at the VA have a specific concern about his or her treatment, we encourage you to contact the Chief of Staff’s office at the (VA in Albuquerque) by calling 1-800-465-8262 or 505-265-1711.”

Veterans who were medically separated from the armed forces between Sept. 11, 2001, and Dec. 31, 2009, and who received a combined disability rating of 20 percent or less and were not found eligible for retirement can apply to have their MEB/PEB disability rating reviewed for fairness, consistency and accuracy.
